December 3rd VILIA gave a 4-hour drum-solo
technique and choreography workshop at the
Tijuana Grand Hoteal as part of an event hosted by IMCADH A.C. of
HipSlingers dance company were then
featured performing at El Foro (formerly the Jai
Alai
Palace) in a Middle Eastern Dance Extravaganza “La Mujer En Plenitud Y La Danza.”.

October 9th VILIA performed her own classical cabaret choreography at the annual Bedouin
Bazaar held in Kearny Mesa at the Al Bahr
Shrine.

25-29 VILIA attended a weeklong workshop in
Suhaila
Salimpour. At the conclusion of the workshop she
tested and was awarded with Level II
certification in the Suhaila Salimpour format.
July 2006
July 16th The HipSlingers
Dance Company performed at the annual SAMEDA
Faire held at the Scottish Rite Center. The HipSlingers
debut performance featuring traditional
cabaret, a drum solo and a
hip-hop fusion piece.
July 6th VILIA and her HipSlingers Dance Company were selected to model 3-D Eyelash
Extensions and the AirPro Make-up System in a photo shoot for Professional Makeup Artists
Supply, Inc. headed by professional make-up artist Rebeca
Rodriguez. The HipSlingers will also
be modeling the eyelash and makeup line at the upcoming SAMEDA Faire
where Rebeca will be
featuring her products and
services at an introductory discount.

April 22 VILIA was featured dancing in the streets of
downtown’s Horton Square for the
San Diego Dance
Alliance 3rd
annual National Dance Week
Celebration…a day of dance
performances from some of San
Diego’s many diverse dance groups including Culture Shock
Dance Troupe, Butterworth Dance, Ballet Folklorico
de Colores, Natyapriya
Dance Academy
and the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet .
April 23 SHARQI SHOWCASE with VILIA, DILEK
& KAMLESH SINGH
Peformers from Encinitas to
Middle Eastern dance event. The
showcase, held at Hillcrest’s Med Grill Café’ & Restaurant,
boasted a myriad of performances from Egyptian, Turkish and Lebanese
style solos
to duets and group pieces
showcasing the use of sword, candle tray balancing, cane dancing
and live drumming. Restaurant management claimed it was the
most successful dance
event of it’s kind to be held within
their establishment citing the fact that they had to
turn away people at
the door and turned down more than 60 reservations. The showcase
will return again soon so be sure and reserve early so you don’t
miss it!

November 19 VILIA & students
taught and performed at UCSD’s first Annual Dance-A-Thon
Benefiting Pediatric
AIDS!!! The event featured numerous
UCSD dance students dancing non-
stop from
health programs
headed by the Elizabeth Glaser
Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
VILIA helped
keep the dancing
participants on their toes by instructing and leading them in lively and
fun Lebanese and
Kurdish style line dances.
